RELIGIOUS EDUCATION & EVANGELIZATION
Hearing the Good News in our hearts, and sharing that Good News with others are at the core of our religious education & evangelization ministries. We offer opportunities to learn more about the Lord, and to deepen the experience of being in relationship with God in Word and in worship. You might consider if you are called to any of the following ministries.
Religious Education Classes – these are offered to children, pre-K through Grade 8, on Sunday mornings from 10:10 a.m. through 11:20 a.m., September through May, in the Parish Center.
Sacramental Preparation -- throughout the year, we offer individual and group preparation for celebrating the sacraments of First Communion, Reconciliation, and Confirmation.
NOTE: All persons preparing to receive First Eucharist, Reconciliation and/or Confirmation must provide a copy of their Baptismal Certificate prior to receipt of the Sacrament.
RCIA and RCIC (Rites of Christian Initiation for Adults and for Children) -- we prepare Christian, non-Christian, and Catholic adults and children for full initiation into the life of the Catholic Christian Church. RCIA and RCIC are offered in groups, on Sunday mornings, from 10:10 a.m. through 11:20 a.m. in the Parish Center. These classes usually run from October through the Easter Vigil, although individual preparation is available where needed.
Adult Faith Formation – workshops aimed at enabling adults to deepen their understanding of the faith, and continue their walk with God throughout life are offered throughout the year. Offerings cover a wide variety of topics from liturgy to prayer to scripture study to interfaith relations and more. A schedule of these workshops is available by calling The ParishOffice (410-488-0400).
Operation Faith Lift is an evangelization outreach effort in which Cahtolic parishes join together in a door-to-door campaign, sharing the Good News of Jesus Christ. Operation Faith Lift is a statement to the community saying "we care about you so much that we want to share the one thing that is greater than gold, more valuable than silver, and His name is Jesus Christ."
We believe a relationship with Jesus brings about a full life and brings grace to other relationships. We are unable to keep quiet about what we have seen and heard. Our desire is to testify to God's glory right in our own neighborhoods.
Several times a year, parishioners come together for prayer and praise, at which time Evangelization Teams come forward to receive a special blessing before departing to surrounding nerighborhoods. Prayer Warriors remain in the chapel in prayer and quiet reflection in support of those walking. The evangelization teams walk through various nearby streets to meet and greet our neighbors, introducing them to the St. Anthony of Padua/Most Precious blood Community. Before moving on, they offer some brochures and additional information about our parishes and invite them to join us at any of our services.
This ministry is open to all parishioners of St. Anthony of Padua and Most Precious Blodd. Call the Parish Center (410-488-0400) for more information.
Training in all of these ministries is provided, and no previous experience is necessary. To inquire about participating, or to volunteer to serve, contact The Parish Office at 410-488-0400.
